“Colour is the first thing to fail. We start without it.”
Bergland buys the fleece of a single Appenzell flock and knits it undyed, sorting by the natural greys and oats of the animals themselves. The range of shades is decided each spring by the sheep.
Garments are washed once in soft mountain water and blocked flat. They arrive slightly stiff and soften over a season.
