Silk Squares
“The hem is where a square is judged.”
Lebec has printed silk squares in Avignon since 1919, using engraved rollers rather than screens for the depth of line it gives.
Every hem is rolled and stitched by hand, roughly nine metres of thread to a large square, by one of five women who have done nothing else for decades.
